The Eastern Regional Coordinator for Early Childhood Development Unit of the Ghana Education Service, Ms. Barbara Vida Ntow has advised managers of Early Childhood Development Centers in the region to constantly build the capacity of their staff.
She said children must be carefully treated with patience in order to build their capacity.
She said proprietresses and proprietors should organise refresher and upgrading courses for their teachers if they want the future leaders to have a solid foundation.
Ms. Ntow was speaking on the theme “Quality Early Childhood Education-the Key to Development” at the sixth graduation ceremony of the Anointed Royals (ECDC) at Koforidua at the weekend.
She said no one could talk about quality education without capacity building for the teacher, adding that, education at the early level was not only foundational but very critical in the entire spectrum of education.
The Proprietress of the school, Madam Adelaide Asamoa in her welcome address, said the future of Ghana would depend on the quality of education.
She appealed to the various ECDC’s to ensure that they employed qualified teachers who would transform and impact positively on the lives of the children.
