The Western Regional branch of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) has organised a clean up exercise at the Takoradi central market as part of activities to mark the corporation’s 80th anniversary celebrations.
The chairman of the Western Regional branch, Mr. Stephenson L. Aggrey said in an interview with The Spectator that GBC decided to clean the central business area because it was a shopping area many visitors patronise.
He said the National Sanitation Day would only succeed if the government had tasked Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives to take active part in the exercise.
Mr.Aggrey said the staff defied the downpour to take part in the clean up exercise.
He said people in authority needed to show seriousness in the sanitation day so that Ghana would become clean once more.
Mr.Aggrey was grateful to Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Dam Ice Company (producers of treated water) and the Ghana Fire Service for the support it had received during the exercise.
