The Eastern Optimist Club of Ghana, a non-government organisation has put smiles on the faces of five elderly women in the Birem North District of the Eastern Region

The club presented a hamper each containing assorted items and GH?20.00 each to the women who hailed from Adadekrom, New Abirem, Old Abirem, Mpintimpi and Nkronan.

The president of the Eastern Regional Optimist Club of Ghana, Mr. Foster Oteng said the gesture was part of the club’s social corporate responsibility.

He said the club was a worldwide volunteer organisation made up of more than 2,500 local clubs whose members worked each day to make the future brighter by bringing smiles on the faces of the aged and bring out the best in children in their communities.

The club also seeks to promote an active interest in good governance and civic affairs, adding that they promote patriotism and work for international accord and friendship among all people.

He encouraged the aged to have faith in God,and eat well in order to be strong and healthy all the time.

Receiving the items, the women prayed for God’s blessings on the management of the club and promised to take good care of themselves.
